i will see taiwan as a market square for the chinese music industry. Juz like america is for english music industry. As for singapore, we can be if singaporean talent is willing to give it all and try it out. At the same time, more opportunites must be created for singaporean. There are alot of talent locally, just that there are not enough opportunity and no one is willing to nurture them........

actually it is possible but the mindset must be right. Each people has their own dreams some people may love singing and has a good vocal but then they do not wish to be a singer, and some people dream of being one but do not live for it actually it is not difficult finding talents in singapore but then it is after when you get them, are they will to explore and be on the musical path or do they want to take another path ?

hmmm.... I think Sinagpore market is toooooo small to sustain an industry. Taiwan and HK can still survive w/o tapping into other country, but Singapore cannot. So, its hard to make Singapore music indusrty like Taiwan. Even our yanzi and a-do are much based in Taiwan and China. But, no doubt we do have the talents... ;D we have the benefit cos' we r like a culture melting pot here, we know English songs, Jap songs, etc.... What i hope is rather that the overall chinese music industry can be more open and receptive to more genres of music (like jazz, bossa, world music, trance, etc) like the US/korean/Jap market.

I think there are few aspects for us to look into with regards to the local industry.... I used to feel that Singapore's industry is SMALL... True... mainly because we are a small country.... MAX recorded sales after deducting the 'Ah Ma, Ah Gong, Other races if we release a mandarin album, babies, others' is very most 1 Million (And that is the MAX!!!)
We need to sell talents/ records to other countries like Taiwan and HK... We wanna make their $$$...
Since some of you feel that our industry is small... I must say that a lot has improved since the 80s...
DO YOU KNOW THAT:
- The top Mandarin writers/ musicians are Singaporean?
- 90% of Taiwanese hits album have Singaporean as their producers and musicians?
- Almost 80% of Ah Mei's Musician for concert and recording are Singaporean?
- DO you know that we have the Second best recording studio in South-East Asia?
- ALL Big Singaporean Stars get hold of Platinum Title for their record sales?
- The Most successful Company to penetrate into china are Singapore Indie Label?
Read your CD inlay and if you notice familiar names... Feel proud because, other parts of Asia depends alot of Singaporean to assist them in music production....

taiwan is a better market as chinese is one of the main language there, unlike singapore it is a multi-racial country, and you can't expect 100% chinese pop music listeners right and some people don't really listen to chinese pop music. so it is hard to develop over here + population is small also.

Look at it in other business point of view... Singapore is small... no resources.... no population to support... We, Singaporean are businessmen!!! We go into other terrortories and make $$$... isn't that a solution?
